Ebbsfleet United manager Josh Wright praises the contribution of striker Dominic Samuel after scoring the match-winner against Tonbridge Angels in National League South

Ebbsfleet manager Josh Wright has heaped praise on in-form Dominic Samuel.

The Fleet forward took his tally for the campaign to nine by netting the winner in the Boxing Day victory over Tonbridge.

Samuel has scored in the last three National League South games and will look to extend that sequence when they travel to Dover on Tuesday night.

“I've played with him over the years a couple of times, and he's got serious quality,” said Fleet boss Wright. “If I'm being honest with you, he's got quality that's above this level.

“He's had to bide his time this year, but that's not just through selection of choice. He's coming on the back of a really serious injury last year, and sometimes that takes time.

“That takes time physically, that takes time mentally, and all the aspects that come with it.

“He's a great character, a great kid. On the quiet, he's been in form pretty much all season, because he's had little bit parts to play earlier on in the season, and when he's had his opportunities, he's been decent.

“He's not always scored goals, but not everyone scores goals every time they play as a striker or any player, but he still has a big effect on the game.

“Out of possession, he gets it. He gets the shape well, and he gets the press right in where and when he needs to be in places. On top of that, he's great in the build-up and has a great touch.

“He's got top quality that he can keep hold of the ball and set it off and switch a play. But at the same time, when you give him a chance, more times than not, he takes it.

“People can say that you get poachers and you get boys that need opportunities that are easy opportunities, but he's got a bit of both.
