Ebbsfleet United manager Dennis Kutrieb reacts to 3-0 win over Chippenham in National League South

Ebbsfleet boss Dennis Kutrieb admitted he couldn’t complain after his side’s opening day win over Chippenham.

The Fleet claimed a comfortable 3-0 win at Stonebridge Road in National League South on Saturday.

“I can’t moan about anything,” admitted Kutrieb. “We played a very good game, put pressure on them very early and could have scored after four minutes.

“If I have to criticise something it is that we haven’t scored more goals but I think for the first game of the season it is a perfect result and exactly what we were looking for.

“I’m really proud of the boys from first to last man, it was a good team performance.”

There were goals from summer signings Toby Edser and Darren McQueen, who both came off the bench to score in the second half.

Kutrieb added: “I’m so happy that Toby is with us, he came in and scored a goal, and I told Darren there were massive gaps so whenever he got the ball to go straight for goal, it was well taken.

“We have a good squad and a good team and even the boys that come on from the bench can make an impact straight away.

“I’m proud of them because everyone did a good job. It can be tough against 10 men but we wanted to make sure we kept the ball and didn’t make stupid mistakes, that they could get some chances with transitions.

“National League South is a tough league and every opponent can ask questions. After we had a good start, they got a foothold into the game and asked some questions.

“We defended very well there, and then we put out foot on the pedal again. We should have scored two or three more goals in the first half, Craig Tanner and Dominic Poleon both had a big chance.

“We didn’t get frustrated or distracted, we just made sure that we remained focused.”
