Eamonn Holmes posts for first time after Ruth Langsford divorce announcement

Eamonn Holmes has posted for the first time since news of his divorce from fellow TV presenter Ruth Langsford was announced.

A spokesperson for the couple announced the news earlier today (May 25). The pair previously presented This Morning together and have been together for nearly 14 years.

A statement read: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”

But following the news Eamonn, 64, took to Instagram on Saturday afternoon to share a post about the FA Cup final - which Manchester United won 2-1 - as he swerved any mention of his marriage ending, the Mirror reports.

Alongside a painted picture of himself, Eamonn wrote: "My God , what a Cup Final , what a Result ! #MUFC European football next season too . The Magic of The Cup . Congratulations to the whole squad."

Whispers of a shock announcement began circulating on Saturday, before the sad news was finally confirmed by the couple's representatives. The joint statement read: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

Concern had been growing for the much-loved duo, who worked together for years on ITV's This Morning, after fans noticed they have not been pictured together in months. The pair were renowned for their bickering and rows, many of which took place in full glare of the ITV cameras during their time on the daytime show, but the duo had always insisted their disagreements came from a place of affection.

A source close to the couple put the break-up down to 'work commitments which took them in different directions'. "They are determined to stay friends and keep things amicable," they told The Sun.
