Dylan McGeouch and Funso Ojo 'time is up' at Aberdeen as duo set for Pittodrie contract snub

Aberdeen duo Dylan McGeouch and Funso Ojo will not be offered new contracts.

The midfield pair will see their deals expire in the summer but with boss Jim Goodwin looking to stamp his own authority on the squad after replacing Stephen Glass.

McGeouch has failed to cement a regular starting spot since joining the Dons in 2020 while Ojo has been thrown into several different positions this season.

The Press and Journal also noted that Aberdeen may miss out on securing Andrew Considine on a new deal.

Richard Gordon wrote in his P&J column: "Jim will need to create space in the squad, and it seems unlikely midfielders Funso Ojo and Dylan McGeouch will be offered contracts when their current deals expire in a few months’ time.

"Of the others who were due to run out, Ryan Hedges and Miko Virtanen have departed, while Jonny Hayes has signed on for another year."

Aberdeen have been linked with St Mirren trio Jak Alnwick, Charles Dunne and Connor Ronan in recent weeks as Goodwin looks to raid his former club.

Considine is another one of those who's contract expires in the summer.

The long serving defender has been out for the majority of the season after sustaining a serious ACL knee injury against Qarabag in a Europa Conference League qualifier in August but has recently returned to the first team frame.

And Gordon alludes to the fact that the 35-year-old should be rewarded with a new contract on his terms.

"That leaves Andrew Considine, and I am not sure the parties are as close to agreement as has recently been claimed," Gordon wrote.

"An offer has been made, but not one which is acceptable to the player, with the length of contract a sticking point.
