Dylan Levitt wants Hibs to avoid Europa Conference League pain as AZ dismantling of Dundee United leaves a scar

There will be no chickens being counted for Dylan Levitt in Switzerland tonight.

The Hibs ace knows only too well what it feels like to end up with rotten egg spattered all over the face in Europe. Levitt shudders at the memory of 12 months ago with Dundee United. The Tannadice men were flying after the first leg against Alkmaar – but they ended up getting their AZ kicked.

It was some contrast. United’s 1-0 win against the Dutch outfit caused a stir. But the 7-0 hammering in the return in Holland left them feeling dizzy. The painful turnaround has made the midfielder wary ahead of this evening’s Europa Conference crack at Luzern. Levitt won’t tempt fare but he insisted this feels different to last year with United. Lee Johnson's Hibs have a two goal lead after last week’s 3-1 win at Easter Road, for starters. And it was a different kind of win to United’s shock victory against AZ on Tayside. But he won’t be taking anything for granted in Switzerland. He’s knows what is required tonight – and the pitfalls Hibs must avoid.

Levitt said: “In the AZ game we knew what we needed to do but simply didn’t do it. Obviously conceding early out there put us on the back foot and we lost a lot of confidence as a team going in to half-time. It was difficult to come back from that.

“Does this feel different? I think so. Last week Luzern had a lot of the ball in the first half, but we controlled the game a lot more than we did at United in the AZ. We scored three goals against good team as well last week, so we know what we can do going forward. Last year it was 1-0 and while it was a massive win, we knew they would be right up for it.”

Levitt admitted Tannadice was a house of pain after the AZ pummelling and he doesn’t want to go back
