Dying Light 2 passes 5 million sales in one month

Dying Light 2 has enjoyed an excellent launch since being released in February.

The sequel to Techland’s zombie epic sits at a positive 76 score on Metacritic, with 40 positive reviews, 19 mixed, and just one negative critique for the game.

And the developers have now confirmed that the game has been a big seller too.

Per a tweet from the Dying Light game account, the release sold 5 million copies in the first month of its release.

Per the tweet, the sales were amassed by February 28th. Given that the game was released on February 4th, it means that the game sold 5 million copies in just 24 days, at a rate of 208,333 copies per day.

With the game now having been out for over two months, it is very likely that the game will have kept up that momentum given the positive launch.

Per Comicbook.com, Techland has also revealed exactly how Dying Light’s first installment has done in terms of sales.

Since launching in 2015, the first game has sold over 20 million copies overall worldwide.

That is a remarkable number for a brand new franchise, and it is completely understandable why the franchise has spawned a sequel.

Per the aforementioned website, Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka said: “The success of the Dying Light franchise is a great example of the unforgettable experiences we create for our players.”

Techland has also promised that it will continue to support the second installment for years to come, meaning that we are likely to see several updates, including DLC over the many months to come.

If Dying Light 2 ends up selling as well as the first game, too, we are more than likely to see a Dying Light 3 eventually, too.

And who wouldn’t be up for more zombie-bashing, parkour-based fun?
