Dwight Yorke takes aim at ex-Manchester United team-mate Gary Neville over Glazer family stance

Manchester United Treble winner Dwight Yorke has blasted his former team-mate Gary Neville for a seemingly hypocritical stance on the Glazer family.

Neville has been outspoken with his criticism of the Old Trafford owners and the current takeover process. The Sky Sports pundit called the Glazer's 'weak, classless and a disgrace' earlier this month.

But Yorke, who played alongside Neville for four years at United, claims Neville should give back the money he earned during the Glazer's time at the club if he feels that strongly about it.

“As footballers, we’re there just to play football,” Yorke said, speaking ahead of last weekend’s HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens, where has an ambassador at Hong Kong Football Club. All the politics that is coming into the game, that’s not something for me, or even the current players to talk about. That’s the administration, the people running the football club.

“You hear Gary Neville, he’s always [saying] about the Glazers, this or that. But when he was playing, it was the same Glazers who were paying him and he didn’t give the money back, right? He took the money and played, right?

“I look at them on TV and I’m like, ‘Guys, if you had a strong opinion about the whole thing then give all the money back that you said wasn’t worth [it]’. But these guys don’t do that. They go on and open their mouths. I’m just kind of sick of hearing that kind of thing, when for me as a footballer you just want to play and enjoy yourself.”
