Dutch icon aims cutting five-word dig at Erik ten Hag after Manchester United draw

Dutch legend Ruud Gullit questioned Manchester United's display and also mocked Erik ten Hag on Dutch TV after their draw with FC Twente on Wednesday night.

United were held to a 1-1 draw by the Dutch club after starting positively at Old Trafford. Christian Eriksen scored a stunning opener in the first half, but was later at fault for the equaliser.

The Dane turned into traffic and lost the ball to Sam Lammers, who beat Andre Onana at his near post. With seven games to go, United still have more than enough time to secure a top-eight finish, which would see them progress and, in turn, avoid the additional Europa League play-off round.

Nonetheless, it was another disappointing night for the club, who have only won once in their last nine European games. Their only win was against Copenhagen in October last year.

Across all competitions this season, United have won just three of their eight games. "Of course when you see the scores, no one is happy," said Ten Hag. "But also players have a very good sense of the process, of the quality of the process. Yeah, and I agree with him [Diogo Dalot's frustration at results].

"Also, when you analyse the games - all the games - so far, then we are in a good direction. But also as normal in a transition period and in a period where you have to build a team, we have to improve. We have to step up."

Speaking about United's manager on Dutch TV, Gullit jokingly said: "Yeah, but it's a process..."
