Dunfermline v Airdrie OFF amid 'undersoil heating failure'

Airdrie's trip to Dunfermline this afternoon has been called off after an 'undersoil heating failure' at East End Park.

In-form Diamonds were set to face the Pars in a 3pm kick-off, but the Fifers alreted fans to a 10am pitch inspection this morning amid revelations their undersoil heating had stopped working, and there was a build up of water on the surface.

A statement prior to the pitch inspection and the game being called off read: "Due to what appears to be a failure in the undersoil heating system, a large amount of water is currently sitting on the pitch."

The club then added: "Following a 10am pitch inspection this afternoon’s match has been postponed."

Rhys McCabe's Diamonds are on a four-game unbeaten run in the Championship, winning their last three on the bounce, and currently sit fourth in the table, while James McPake's side are on a five-game winless run that has seen them slide down the table to sixth, amid a host of injury issues. The Pars last tasted victory when they defeated Airdrie at New Broomfield on December 9.

A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course.

Airdrie could be knocked out of fourth spot today if Morton win at home to Partick Thistle.
