Airdrie boss frustrated by how quickly they conceded equaliser in Partick draw

Airdrie player-boss Rhys McCabe was left ruing how quickly they conceded after taking the lead over Partick, as a 1-1 draw saw them drop outside of the play-off spots in the Championship.

The Diamonds got themselves in front in 37 minutes when defender Craig Watson buried a rebound after Callum Fordyce's header had been cleared off the line.

But they were in front for just five minutes, with Tomi Adeloye showing some twinkle toes in the box to turn home Jack McMillan's cross and pull Partick level.

Neither side could find a winner and McCabe saw his side slip a place in the table to fifth, despite making it six games unbeaten in all competitions.

He said: "Losing the goal so quickly is the frustrating part.

"If you manage the game and you get into half-time 1-0 up, it gives you a chance to regroup, breathe and work on a plan for the second half but it was a bit of a sucker-punch coming in at half-time.

"But Partick are a good side and they are where they are on the table for a reason.

"It is a good point and keeps our unbeaten run going for a bit longer.

"Partick started better in the first 20 minutes and our press was off ever so slightly.

"But we started to get to grips with it and we started to come into the game.

"In the second half I thought we were the better side, in terms of being the team who looked more in control. They looked to pick us off on the counter.

"We had a couple of set-pieces and I can't remember Josh having a save to make, so a draw is probably a fair result."

Airdrie had to do without the likes of frontmen Gabby McGill and Calum Gallagher through injury, while midfielder Lewis McGregor found himself playing up top with Nikolay Todorov for much of the game before being replaced by Josh O'Conner in
