Dundee vs St Mirren OFF as Dens Park clash falls foul to heavy rain

Dundee's Premiership clash with St Mirren has been postponed after heavy rainfall rendered the Dens Park pitch unplayable.

Extreme weather in the north east cast the game into doubt with Storm Gladys the latest to wreak havoc across the country.

High winds and heavy rain have caused chaos with Tayside one of the areas hardest hit by the conditions.

Dundee announced on Wednesday afternoon that a pitch inspection would take place at 2.30pm due to the substantial rainfall.

And now the match has been postponed until a later date for a second time after the officials deemed the pitch unplayable.

The two sides were due to face on Wednesday night as Dundee look to climb the table under Mark McGhee.

The new boss took charge of his first game at the weekend as they fell to a narrow defeat to Celtic at Parkhead.

Meanwhile Stephen Robinson is hoping to get off to a flying start after he arrived to replace Jim Goodwin at Saints.

The former Motherwell boss was brought in from Morecambe and Record Sport exclusively revealed they made him the highest-paid manager in their history after agreeing a substantial compensation fee with the EFL League One side.

He takes over a Saints side in a good place as they strive for a top six finish and a potential post-split push for Europe.

But he will have to wait until the weekend for his first game with Hearts due to travel to St Mirren Park.
