Connor Ronan tracked by Hearts and Aberdeen as St Mirren loan star lined up for stunning transfer

Aberdeen and Hearts are tracking St Mirren loanee Connor Ronan with a view to a stunning transfer.

The Dons and Jambos have both been impressed with the impact the Wolves midfielder has made in his breakout spell in Paisley.

Record Sport revealed this week that the 24-year-old is closing in on a first Republic of Ireland after taking his season's tally so seven goals with a wonder strike in Saturday's Scottish Cup quarter-final defeat to Hearts.

Jambos sporting director Joe Savage is now watching Ronan closely – as are Aberdeen who are managed by Jim Goodwin.

It was Goodwin who took Ronan north when he was St Mirren manager earlier in the season.

The player has made it clear he is enjoying his football and is hoping his performances can help him force his way back into the Premier League plans of Wolves, where he still has another year left on his contract.

Any deal depends on whether the Premier League club were to let him return north on loan or they could even sell.

It is likely it would take an offer in excess of £500,000 for Wolves to even consider selling.

If he was available on loan then it is also a deal that St Mirren would also like to renew.

Ronan made his Wolves debut six years ago but since then has been on loan at Portsmouth, Walsall, DAC Dunajska Streda, Blackpool, Grasshopper and now St Mirren.

Aberdeen boss Goodwin has already targeted St Mirren’s Jak Alnwick.

The keeper is out of contract in the summer and the Irishman wants to offer him a summer move to Pittodrie.

Alwnick is another player that Goodwin signed and has worked with closely.
