Dundee vs Rangers face ANOTHER washout as Met Office weather warning sparks Dens Park fears

Rangers face a nervous wait to see if their clash with Dundee gets the go-ahead with Dens Park set to be battered by rain before kick-off on Wednesday.

The Scottish Premiership clash between the Dark Blues and Motherwell last weekend narrowly survived the weather after a second check on the surface saw referee David Dickinson give the Dark Blues the go-ahead - after the man in the middle had given the club more time to get the game on. The Steelmen raised concerns over player safety at Dens Park before kick-off with the SPFL and boss Stuart Kettlewell hitting out at Dundee over a lack of investment in the pitch.

Large sections of the field were covered in sand before kick-off and players were seen struggling to handle the conditions during the 3-2 win for Motherwell. And things don't look set to improve with the weather on Tayside - plunging the rescheduled clash with Rangers into doubt.

Philippe Clement's side can leapfrog Celtic and move top of the table if they win their game in hand. But a weather warning for heavy rain has been issued by the Met Office for Dundee.

Leading up to the 7.45pm kick-off the downpour is said to continue. There is a 90 per cent chance of heavy rain on Wednesday according to the Met Office and it is also set to pour down heavily the day before.

Speaking on BBC Sportscene, former Dundee and Rangers star Neil McCann insists football should still be played on he park despite the pitch problems. He said: "You can say as much as you want about the pitch - but probably the best game this weekend was on that pitch against Motherwell. Football can be played on it."
