Duk sees Celtic no goal split the pundits as 'harsh' Aberdeen handball sparks definitive VAR defence

The decision to chop off Duk's strike for Aberdeen as they looked to complete an astonishing fight-back against Celtic has split the pundits.

Jimmy Thelin 's men fought back from 2-0 down at the home of the Scottish Premiership champions - and thought they had won it late on in Glasgow's east end as the top two faced off. Aberdeen defender Slobodan Rubezic met a free-kick in from the left that would cannon off of Dons' forward Duk and beyond Kasper Schmeichel with the game poised at 2-2.

However, there would be a massive let off for Celtic as VAR stepped in to chalk with goal off. After referee Nick Walsh had originally green lit the goal Greg Aitken in the VAR room would chalk the goal off and keep the game level. However, not all the pundits were convinced of the decision. Billy Dodds on Red TV said: "I can't see too much in it. It will be forensic, and it will be harsh. It is the rules if it's handball. It's a huge decision for Celtic, it really is."

However, Pat Bonner on BBC Sportsound insisted the match official got the call right: "VAR has done it's job. That is the way it is. You can see the Aberdeen players are really disappointed."
