Duk on route back to Aberdeen best after PAOK glimpse of class as Barry Robson hints at 'more to come'

Barry Robson reckons Duk’s goal in Greece can help get the Aberdeen star back to his best.

The striker netted an impressive 18 goals last season but has struggled to hit those same heights this season so far. The Cape Verde international netted the opener in the Europa League draw on Thursday at PAOK to claim his third goal of the season. Robson said: “We know what’s in there. I believe in him more than anyone.

“Form dips now and again but that is football, it happens to everyone. People tend to forget that even the games when he’s not scoring, he is still really contributing to the team. He is still winning penalties and can do things in our team that no-one else can. And that is why he will play a big part for us this season.

“Bojan (Miovski) has been flying and Ester (Sokler) is a really good mover. It is so frustrating for Ester to try to get on the pitch as well. Hopefully we can get them on the pitch.”

The Viaplay Cup finalists, who take on Celtic on Sunday, can no longer qualify from their Europa Conference League group but Robson believes his side deserves credit for the way they have fought on all fronts.

“All I want is for my players to get credit,” the Aberdeen manager said. “We’re in here, in Europe fighting, We are in a cup final, playing PAOK and are away to Celtic next.”
