Duk faces Aberdeen FC disciplinary action as Jimmy Thelin discusses 'internal issues' amid transfer exit push

Want-away Aberdeen striker Duk is facing internal disciplinary action after failing to return for the Dons' pre-season schedule.

The Cape Verde international missed the pre-season trip to Portugal with a medical issue but has since failed to return to Cormack Park. The Dons have now started disciplinary action against their striker, who claimed earlier this summer that he is keen to leave. An Aberdeen spokesperson said: "It is now an internal disciplinary matter. "The club is disappointed that it has come to this."

Manager Jimmy Thelin confirmed that the 24-year-old forward won't be in the squad for tomorrow's Premier Sports Cup opener away to Queen of the South in Dumfries. Thelin added: "Duk is not going to be inside the squad. Right now we have some internal issues with the Duk situation that is all I can say about that. "Right now that is all I can say about the situation.

Duk struggled last season to recreate the impact he had in his first campaign in Scotland. His representative has also been quoted in recent weeks as saying it would be best if Aberdeen were to sell his client this summer.

The issue for Aberdeen is that the player is now in the final year of his contract. His former club Benfica are also due half of any sell-on fee. Aberdeen are determined they will only sell Duk if the deal is right for them. Duk was the subject of a bid from Spanish side Leganes in January but that was thrown out because it didn't meet the Dons' valuation.
