Driver under arrest on suspicion of three motoring offences after being stopped by police

A vehicle stopped in the Oldham area on Tuesday night was found to have a tyre so worn that the inner cord was exposed. Greater Manchester Police also went on to discover that the driver was uninsured and when tested for alcohol, provided a positive result.

At 12:28am on Tuesday night, Greater Manchester Police's Traffic unit posted on social media that they had stopped a vehicle in Oldham. The Vauxhall was "uninsured and with an exposed cord on one of the tyres, the driver would provide a positive specimen."

They added that the motorist was placed under arrest and had their vehicle impounded. The police did not state how much beyond the legal limit for driving with alcohol in the system the driver was. The driver's identity was not disclosed.
