Erik ten Hag gives angry response after being questioned over Manchester United job

Erik ten Hag has reacted angrily when questioned about his links to the Manchester United manager’s job.

United look to be closing in on the appointment of Ten Hag as their new permanent manager ahead of the summer. The Ajax boss emerged as United’s preferred candidate earlier this year, having been a frontrunner since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking in November.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News , Ajax now expect the 52-year-old to become United’s new manager. Ten Hag has already been interviewed by the club as they close in on his appointment.

United insist they are yet to make a final decision on any manager at this moment in time. However, they do intend to make their appointment before the end of the season.

Ten Hag has so far remained tight-lipped about his links to the job, although he has dropped some hints that he may be eyeing up a move at the end of the season. He has faced repeated questions over his future, particularly with recent developments in United’s search.

The Dutchman found himself fielding more questions about the United job ahead of Ajax’s clash with Sparta Rotterdam on Saturday evening. Ten Hag, though, was in no mood to speak about a potential move to Old Trafford.

"We are busy with training and with the matches," Ten Hag told ESPN. “That way you keep the focus on it. I want to talk about the game and not about other things and whether or not I've had conversations. I won't comment on rumours.”

Ten Hag angrily added: “Questions about the game or I am going inside.”
