Dramatic police helicopter footage captures moment police bust runaway suspects

This dramatic police helicopter footage captured the moment officers chased two suspects on a 'stolen' motorbike before they were detained in an alleyway.

The helicopter camera first captured the bike riding along Brookhouse Avenue in Eccles, with the police vehicle closely behind. The bike was travelling at around 40mph.

As the bike then headed onto Northfleet Road, the driver then sped up to around 65mph, according to the footage. The police vehicle stayed closely behind as it continued to pursue to the suspected stolen vehicle, with the helicopter remaining overhead.

As the bike drove onto Verdant Lane then onto a side street, both the driver and the passenger came off the vehicle and ran down an alleyway. With guidance from the helicopter, officers kept track of both suspects.

Both then appeared to walk towards the officers with their arms up, with an officer describing them as 'compliant' in the footage. The camera then captured them both being detained.

Police said they were taken into custody to be interviewed on suspicion of a 'number of offences'. Officers shared the footage on the GMP Traffic X account.

"If you’re looking to commit crime whilst using a stolen motorbike in Greater Manchester, you will be dealt with robustly. 2 in custody awaiting interview for a number offences", the post said.
