Dramatic photos show car roof cut off after person rescued in smash on main road
A car had its roof cut off as a person was rescued amid a crash on a main road in Tameside.
The smash happened on the A57 Manchester Road in the Hyde area at around 3.15pm yesterday afternoon (October 28). It involved two cars, police confirmed.
Officers closed off the main road in both directions as emergency crews responded. Pictures from the scene showed one car with its roof cut off, while the other car was left badly damaged.

A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said one person was rescued 'using cutting equipment'. Firefighters then 'made the scene safe'.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed today that no serious injuries were reported in the crash. The road was reopened at around 7pm last night.
In a statement, a spokesperson for GMFRS said: “At 4pm on Monday (October 28) one fire engine from Gorton fire station plus the technical response unit from Ashton fire station attended a crash involving two cars on Manchester Road, Hyde.
“Firefighters rescued one person using specialist cutting equipment and made the scene safe alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service. Crews were in attendance for around 50 minutes.”
