Dramatic Graeme Souness claim blows up Hotline as Takeover crew sent a loaded warning over Rangers banner
The Union Bears stoked the Old Firm atmosphere with a giant tifo depicting a gun-toting Graeme Souness.
But it’s now the Rangers ultra group in the firing line after club chiefs hit out at “unacceptable” banner.
Denis Bruce, Bishopbriggs, said: “What a lot of work must have gone into producing that shameful tifo at Ibrox for the final Rangers-Celtic clash of the season.
“Did Graeme Souness. give his approval for the use of a photograph depicting him with a shotgun ready to blast away at ‘rebel scum’?
“I am sure he will strongly disassociate himself from that sorry banner, though the whole section of the stand displaying it clearly shared the sentiment behind the legend attached.
“Perhaps the Ibrox board should shut down that particular section for the remainder of the season to register its disapproval of the venomous message contained therein, which brings the club into disrepute."
John Scott, Port Glasgow, added: “Sunday's Rebel Scum banner once again highlights the ugly face of Scottish football.
“Rangers condemned the display yet they could not control its deployment or indeed its appearance inside their ground.”
Neil Renton, Leith, said: “Once again Rangers fans let themselves and their club down with their behaviour.
“From the offensive tifo to a bottle being thrown on the pitch, those involved should be banned from Ibrox for life. Although given the way Gers are playing, that’s not much of a punishment.”
Robert Pender emailed: “Rangers are outraged at the behaviour of the banner and bottle throwing ultras.
“They will be sourced out and given life bans. It is time both Celtic and Rangers refuse season tickets to these idiots. They could fill the seats easily with good supporters.”
