Downs and out? Maritzburg files complaint to PSL over 'unfair' scheduling of final-day matches

Maritzburg United chairman Farouk Kadodia has accused the Premier Soccer League (PSL) of unfair practice in scheduling the relegation-embattled club's final DStv Premiership match against Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday.

The Team of Choice is set to conclude their campaign on Tuesday at 19:30, while their competitors in the relegation battle - Chippa United, Marumo Gallants and Richards Bay - will complete their fixtures on Saturday.

Kadodia's concerns revolve around the potential disadvantage to his team due to the discrepancy in the timing of their matches.

Only goal difference separates Maritzburg (-16), Chippa (-15) and Gallants (-5) who are all jointly anchored to the bottom of the league on 29 points, while Richards Bay are on 32 points heading into their final fixture.

Chippa are scheduled to face Golden Arrows, Gallants meet Swallows, and Richards Bay come up against Royal AM. These matches are set in stone for 15:00 kick-off on Saturday afternoon.

Maritzburg can only hope that Arrows and Swallows bring their best against their bottom-dwelling rivals on Saturday, regardless of Tuesday's outcome.

This is what Kadodia deems unfair.

As such, the United chairman has officially filed a complaint to the PSL.

"Such games have to be on the same date. We've sent letters to the league, but unfortunately they have not come back to us. I don't know if they discussed it yesterday or not," Kadodia was quoted as saying in KickOff.

"But it is totally unfair
