Dover Athletic striker Kenny Coker confident team can give unbeaten early National League South pacesetters Hornchurch a game after injury-time equaliser in 3-3 home draw
Kenny Coker is confident Dover can get a result at unbeaten early frontrunners Hornchurch this Saturday.
The striker got his first competitive Whites goal in dramatic style last weekend, equalising in stoppage time in their 3-3 home draw with Hampton & Richmond Borough.
Next up is a rearranged National League South encounter against Daryl McMahon’s Urchins, who have won seven of their first nine league matches this term and scored 22 goals in the process.
“We’ll have to see,” said 21-year-old Coker on whether he felt his cameo appearance will have done enough to earn him a start.
"That will definitely be a tough game but, with the group we have got, I see no reason why we cannot get something out of that game, whether that’s three points or a point.”
Forward Craig Fasanmade put Hampton & Richmond into a 2-0 half-time lead with a brace.
In-form Dover striker Ruben Soares-Junior got one back and, while midfielder Harry Gardner scored an away third, Decarrey Sheriff set up a grandstand finish.
And home substitute Coker came up trumps in front of a big attendance of 2,834.
On the draw, Coker reflected: “We did very well as a group.
“We were 2-0 down, then we made it 2-1, and it went to 3-1 to them.
"But we have got such a good group of boys here and such a good group of players so, even if we are conceding, we know that we can score.”
Coker’s dramatic late intervention came when he was the first to Soares-Junior’s header from a free-kick by substitute Luke Baptiste in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
“It was just a striker’s goal,” he said. “I tried to stay on the move and, as soon as I saw the ball drop down, that’s my game.
“I was quick to face the goal, tried to get as close to the ball as possible, and just tried to
