Dover Athletic manager Mitch Brundle hints at new recruits in time for National League South away clash with St Albans City

New faces will be in the squad for Dover’s National League South trip to St Albans tonight.

Whites, 21st in the table and in the relegation zone, are set to visit last season’s Play-off Finalists (kick-off 7.45pm).

It’s not been such a strong start for the Hertfordshire club this time, though. They only have seven points from as many league fixtures - while Mitch Brundle’s men have just one win this term and are a point behind them at this early stage of the campaign.

“They’ll be new ones added for Tuesday, just we didn’t get them done in time for Saturday,” said boss Brundle after their weekend 1-1 home draw against Chippenham.

“But would I have thrown them straight in? Possibly not because, obviously, we worked on what we’ll do throughout the week.”

St Albans ended a three-match losing streak at the weekend, playing out a goalless draw at Welling.

But Brundle said: “It’s another tough game, every game is tough at this level. They’re a good team.

“Their manager [David Noble] has them set up in a certain way.

“But, hopefully, we can take confidence from this game - I want them [Dover’s players] to - and we’ll look at that more now.”

When the teams met at St Albans last term, the hosts won 1-0 in March.
