Donegal clinch Ulster title beating Armagh in dramatic shoot-out
Donegal won an epic Ulster SFC final in a dramatic penalty shoot-out, with goalkeeper Shaun Patton denying Shane McPartlan with a title-clinching sudden death save, edging it 6-5 on spot kicks, after the sides had been deadlocked on 0-20 each after extra-time at Clones.
The sides were level on six occasions in a first half that produced 17 quality scores from play, with Ben Crealey edging Armagh into a 0-10 to 0-9 interval lead.
Stefan Campbell nudged Armagh into a four points lead at the end of the third quarter, but Donegal hit the last four scores, including Paddy McBrearty's equaliser, to tie it up at 0-15 each.
It was Donegal sub Odhran Doherty who fired over the game’s tenth equaliser to give his side a crack at the penalties, with Patton emerging as the hero.
