Remo Stars target wins to clinch NPFL title

Remo Stars’ Coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has said that his team must be ready to win all their matches as the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) goes into the home stretch, explaining that any dropped point could cost them the crown.

Remo Stars are third on the NPFL table with 56 points from 33 matches with five matches to the end of the season.

Leaders, Enugu Rangers have 60 points, while second-place Enyimba have the same 56 points with Remo Stars, but with a superior goals difference.

Remo Stars will host Kano Pillars in a matchday 34 game at the Ikenne home tomorrow and Ogunmodede sees the game as a tough tie that his team must win.

He said: “The Kano Pillars match is very important to us. If we drop any more point, we are out of the race for the league title. Therefore, we are condemned to win all our remaining games, starting with Saturday’s game with Pillars,” said Ogunmodede.

Speaking in the same vein, Remo Stars’ Sodiq Ismaila acknowledged that Pillars are a tough and experienced side, saying that his team must be at their best to get the needed result.

“We have to approach it with a winning mentality. We must win that game to bring the NPFL title to Ikenne,” Ismaila said.

The league continues this weekend with three games slated for tomorrow.

They are the Doma United versus Lobi Stars clash in Gombe, Bendel Insurance against Katsina United in Benin, and the Remo Stars’ battle with Kano Pillars.

The rest of the Week 34 games, which will be broadcast live by Startimes
Channel 244, will hold on Sunday across states.
