'Done more in six months' - Jamie Carragher makes Antony and Jadon Sancho claim after Man United loss

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has questioned why Manchester United winger Antony gets criticised more often than teammate Jadon Sancho.

Both players started on Thursday night as the Reds exited the Europa League after losing 5-2 on aggregate to La Liga side Sevilla, who secured their place in the semi-finals thanks to a 3-0 win in the second leg. The first leg finished 2-2 at Old Trafford last week.

Antony was one of the better players for Erik ten Hag's side on the night, but he was still unable to have the desired impact. The Brazilian winger has come under intense scrutiny since signing from Ajax last summer, with the 23-year-old registering just eight goals for the Reds.

However, despite Antony having enjoyed some memorable moments in a United shirt - including a stunning winner against Barcelona - the former Ajax man appears to face more criticism than Reds teammate Sancho. The England international has scored just 10 times in 69 games for the club since arriving in 2021.

Sky Sports pundit Carragher took to Twitter to discuss the respective performances of Antony and Sancho, writing: "Antony has done more in six months than Sancho has in two years. Yet Antony gets plenty of criticism & Sancho gets very little", followed by a shrugging emoji.

Antony, who has registered three more goal contributions than the former Borussia Dortmund man this term, played the full 90 minutes on Thursday night, while Sancho was replaced by Marcus Rashford at the interval. The Englishman spent time away from the first-team squad this season - working with individual coaches in the Netherlands.
