Don't tie a ribbon on your suitcase, warns airport baggage handler

A baggage handler has shared some crucial tips to ensure your luggage gets through the airport swiftly and safely. Losing your luggage is one of the worst travel nightmares, right up there with cancelled flights and rerouted planes.

Holidaygoers are always looking for ways to streamline and speed up the airport process, and an airport worker has shared his wisdom to ensure your luggage reaches its destination.

In a chat with RSVP Live, John, a baggage handler at Dublin Airport, advised holidaymakers to ditch the identifying ribbons often tied to luggage as they can cause delays in getting your bags onto the plane.

He said: "Ribbons that people tie onto their suitcases to help identify them can cause issues with the bag being scanned in the baggage hall. If the bag can't be scanned automatically it can end up in manual processing, which could mean your bag doesn't make it to the flight".
