"Don't think he's been treated the best" - Journalist drops big claim involving £25m Wolves ace

Wolverhampton Wanderers have not treated attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White ‘the best’, according to journalist Josh Holland.

The 22-year-old revived his stuttering career with a successful loan spell at Championship outfit Sheffield United last season, but it remains to be seen where he is plying his trade next term.

Gibbs-White made his senior debut for Wolves back in 2017 when he was still a teenager and showed glimpses of his top-class potential in the subsequent years without ever really kicking on.

It seemed as though a loan spell at Swansea City in 2020/21 would bring the best out of the England Under-21 international until a fractured foot put an abrupt end to his progress.

The creative talent was recalled by Wolves in January due to an injury crisis of their own only for Gibbs-White to make a solitary league start before May.

In February, March and April of 2021, he played just 45 minutes of league football in four appearances off the bench when he could have been playing for a Swansea side that reached the play-off final.

Gibbs-White showcased his talent at Bramall Lane, though, registering 13 goals and 10 assists in 40 appearances for the Blades as they narrowly missed out on promotion.

The Athletic’s Tim Spiers has revealed Wolves’ plan to offer Gibbs-White a new contract, yet Holland believes his previous mistreatment will be ‘in the back of his mind’ when it comes to negotiations.
