Doma United still top as Enyimba, insurance win

Remo Stars Host Plateau; Gombe, Pillars Clash

Young Doma United continued their steady march on the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) mountaintop with yet another victory in the 11-week-old championship. Their victims yesterday were Niger Tornadoes, who fell to Nelson Abiam’s 46th minute strike in Bauchi.

Doma United, which is one of the newest clubs in the country’s elite league, sit atop the table with 21 points, one higher than Lobi Stars, who lost to Bendel Insurance 1-0 in Benin.

Enyimba of Aba, who claimed that their midweek loss to Remo Stars was fortuitous and did not reflect e flow of the game, returned to winning ways with a 1-0 defeat of Sunshine Stars through Chijioke Mbaoma’s 47th minute penalty, just as Kwara United went to Uyo to hold Akwa United to a 1-1 draw.

Uche Collins put the home team ahead off the penalty spot in the 43rd minute but Kwara United struck back two minutes later through Saa’deq Yusuf Ahmat.

The NPFL continues today with Remo Stars hosting Plateau United, Bayelsa United at home to Abia Warriors and Gombe United at home to Kano Pillars.
Other matches of the day include the clash in Enugu between Rangers and Rivers United, Shooting Stars versus Heartland, as well as Sporting Lagos against Katsina United.
