Dolphin Swimming League begins Saturday with over 12 schools

Over 12 schools have been confirmed for the Season Six of the Dolphin Swimming League, which begins on Saturday, at Grange School, Ikeja, Lagos. Among the competing schools are defending champions, Grange and St Saviour’s Schools, which will be joined by new entrants such as Riverbank, Temple, Corona, and Whitesands Lagoon, all vying for medals and honours.

Other participating schools include Greensprings, Children International School, Lagos Preparatory Secondary School, Boken Aquatics, and Team UNAT.
Organised by Dynaspro Sports Promotion in collaboration with Advanta Interactive, the league receives technical support from the Lagos State Swimming
Association and the Nigeria Aquatic Federation.

It is also endorsed by the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and the Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF). The tournament has become a breeding ground for swimmers nationwide, with some participants recently competing in the National Youth Games (NYG) in Delta State.

Speaking on this year’s edition of the league, Tournament Coordinator, Oluseyi Oyebode, said the competition attracts schools from within and outside Lagos State, adding that new schools have joined the season with plans to use the tournament to select the Nigerian contingent for the 2025 International School Sports Federation (ISF) Gymnasiade in Belgrade, Serbia.

“We are thrilled that the tournament continues to draw top swimmers from Lagos and beyond. Our goal is to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents and for national handlers to scout them.

“We are proud that some swimmers from the Dolphin League represented various states at the 2024 NYG in Delta, and we hope some will join the national team soon,” Oyebode said.
