Dog in need of family after being bullied out of home

An American bulldog crossbreed puppy who ‘loves everyone’ is looking for a new family after being bullied out of his home by an older dog.

One-year-old Roderick has been placed on the RSPCA’s ‘extra-special animals’ list after being taken into their Tameside and Glossop branch. Roderick needs a "special family" with experience with large breeds and who can give him the exercise he needs.

The RSPCA said that the ‘young bouncy lad’ was taken in after not getting along with another dog in his household. Because of this, he is now looking for a home where he will be the only dog.

A RSPCA statement - via The Mirror - reads: "This is Roderick who is, as you can see, a pretty big boy. The other dog he lives with doesn't get on with poor Roderick and we have been asked to find him a caring, forever family to call his own.

"Roderick is a lovely natured boy but, because of his past experience living with another dog, we are looking for a home where he can be an only dog, and no cats as we can't guarantee that he is cat safe."

Roderick will need to live in a house with adults or children over the age of 12, and will need to live within an "easy travelling distance" to Greater Manchester. "If you think that this young bouncy lad could be the one for you and your family, we'd love to hear from you," the statement adds.

The RSPCA is urging people to adopt an animal in need rather than turning to breeders when wanting to welcome a pet into their family. "While it may be easy to find animals on the internet or even spend hundreds on an expensive breeder, you could risk heartache or huge vet's bills if you don't do your homework," a
