Disney's emotional Christmas advert will leave fans in tears with sweet story

In the crowded world of Christmas adverts, Disney has managed to capture hearts with their poignant feature.

Titled The Boy and The Octopus, the story unfolds around a young boy who encounters a friendly octopus clinging to his head during a beach holiday. Initially panicked and humiliated, the child's feelings evolve once back home.

As the storyline progresses, he develops a deep bond with the octopus, sharing his land-bound life and the festive season's delights with his new mate. The bond between them grows, and the boy digs deep to fulfil the octopus' wish to see more of the world, illuminating the spirit of childhood and companionship alongside the holiday cheer.

Diehard Disney enthusiasts will spot subtle nods to classics including Moana, Lilo & Stitch, and Toy Story within the advert.

The touching four-minute clip is set to leave viewers misty-eyed as it portrays the friendship budding between the boy and the octopus, reports the Mirror.

The project is a result of Disney's collaboration with filmmaker Taika Waititi, who commented: "The story manages to connect the feelings that you get around the holidays, and the joy, the goodwill and everything, with those same emotions and those same sensibilities you get from Disney films.

"I think they go hand in hand and it's the perfect match and only Disney could have made something like this...with me."

Disney is once again supporting Make-A-Wish International through its campaign efforts. For over four decades, the House of Mouse has collaborated with the charity organisation to bring moments of happiness during challenging times to children and their families worldwide, realising upwards of 155,000 wishes globally.
