Diogo Dalot explains what Sir Jim Ratcliffe's investment gave Manchester United players

Diogo Dalot believes Sir Jim Ratcliffe's acquisition of a minority stake at Manchester United has brought 'different energy' around Carrington, which has boosted morale.

Ratcliffe made a breakthrough in negotiations with the Glazers during the festive period and the deal was officially signed off on Tuesday. The British billionaire has acquired 27.7 per cent of the club and that will be increased to 28.9 per cent when he invests a further $100m by December 31.

The 71-year-old has gained control of football operations as part of the deal and he's already made significant changes, such as appointing Omar Berrada from Manchester City as CEO and entering talks to poach Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth, who is now on gardening leave.

Ratcliffe sat down with journalists on Wednesday and said all the right things, from his desire to succeed, redeveloping Old Trafford to Sir Alex Ferguson and much more. Dalot has praised INEOS for the impact they've already had and, in an interview with GOAL, gave an insight into what it felt like as a player during the protracted takeover talks.

"It [INEOS] brought some different energy, which is always good when things are not going well. You can see around the place everybody was positive about it," Dalot said.

"They presented themselves to us with a lot of good energy and positive vibes for the future, so we were really excited to have them on board. So far we are very happy.
