Diaz, Sane, Doyle - Man City sell-on clauses and buy-back options that could raise millions in transfer market
In the past, Manchester City have not only made a success of selling young players for significant transfer fees but they've also ensured those assets continue to prove fruitful later down the line.
The likes of Jadon Sancho and Pedro Porro have earned modest sums for City when they left the club, before boosting those figures when moving on later in their careers. Both Sancho and Porro earned around £10m each for City when joining Manchester United and Tottenham respectively, while City also benefited when Romeo Lavia joined Chelsea for £50m a year after leaving for Southampton for just £10m.
By inserting a number of sell-on clauses and buy-back options into the majority of sales, City ensure they keep a stake in a player who may increase in value in the future, or even have the option of re-signing them if they prove themselves good enough.

City may regret not putting a sell-on clause in the £42m deal that saw Cole Palmer leave the Etihad, while Chelsea and Newcastle's battle for academy graduate Tosin Adarabioyo won't benefit the Blues as he is set to leave Fulham on a free transfer - despite City having a 20 per cent sell-on clause on the centre-back.
Similarly, there is no sell-on clause for Angelino who is set to move on this summer, having already bought him back from PSV Eindhoven but the full-back left for a straight transfer fee when joining RB Leipzig permanently.
