DI Ray returns to ITV: Release date, cast details, and episode guide for season 2

DI Ray season two is just around the corner, but when exactly will it hit our screens on ITV?

It's been a two-year wait since we last saw DI Rachita Ray (portrayed by Parminder Nagra) in the heart of the Birmingham-based drama.

In the previous season, the detective inspector found herself suspended by the police chief pending further investigation so where will we find DI Ray's career as she comes back for more?

Fortunately, the wait is nearly over with only a few days left until the successful series returns after a two-year hiatus.

The second season of DI Ray is set to premiere on Sunday, October 20, on ITV and ITVX.

Returning to her role as DI Ray is actress Parminder Nagra, who is well-known for her roles as Jess Bhamra in Bend It Like Beckham and Dr Neela Rasgotra in ER.

She will be joined once again by Game Of Thrones' Gemma Whelan as DCI Kerry Henderson, Battlestar Galactica's Jamie Bamber as DI Martyn Hunter, and Code 404's Steve Oram as DS Clive Bottomley.

Ian Puleston-Davies, known for his role as Owen Armstrong in Coronation Street, will also return as Superintendent Ross Beardsmore, along with The Chelsea Detective's Peter Bankole as DS Kwesi Edmud.

New faces joining the cast for the second season include Patrick Baladi, Witney White, Michael Socha, Syreeta Kumar, and Dinita Gohil.

The second season of DI Ray will comprise six episodes in total.

The first episode will be released on October 20, followed by the second and third episodes on October 21 and 22 respectively, all on ITV.

Fans will then have to wait until the following week for the remaining three episodes, which will air on October 27, 28 and 29.

Alternatively, viewers can binge-watch all six episodes on ITVX from the initial release date of
