'Desperately poor' - Notts County player ratings vs Torquay as Magpies have a nightmare

Notts County’s four-match unbeaten run in the National League ended with a nightmare 5-1 defeat to Torquay United.

The hammering meant the Magpies failed to avenge last season’s play-off semi-final defeat at Plainmoor and they remain in sixth place with seven games left to play this season.

It was a desperately poor performance in front of a large Notts following and even more disappointing following last weekend’s convincing win at Southend.

Vitezslav Jaros: Could do nothing about the goals and badly let down by the ten players in front of him. 5

Jayden Richardson: Unable to influence a game as an attacking force and struggled defensively. 4

Alex Lacey: Had one shot which went over the bar but will be desperately disappointed with his defensive display. 4

Connell Rawlinson: Like Lacey, couldn’t handle Torquay’s attacking talent. 4

Adam Chicksen: Torquay’s aggressive striker Danny Wright identified him as a weak link in the back three and dominated him all afternoon. 4

Dion Kelly-Evans: Has been in the running for the man-of-the-match award in almost every game since his return but hooked at half-time after a first-half horror show by the whole team. 4

Frank Vincent: Like Kelly-Evans, subbed at half-time but he was no worse than any of the other outfield players. 4

Harry Arter: Was unable to influence the game as Notts were over-run in midfield. 4

Matt Palmer: His consistency this season has been amazing but not at the races here. 4

Ruben Rodrigues: Notts’ main goal threat and provided the pass for Kyle Wootton’s goal but frustrated as little went right all afternoon. 5

Kyle Wootton: Given a torrid time by Torquay’s no-nonsense defenders but scored a fine goal. 5
