"Deserves a new contract" - Journalist drops big claim on key Wolves ace amid surprise twist

Wolverhampton Wanderers are thought to be ‘continually monitoring’ Max Kilman’s situation amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, with the Molineux ace deserving of a new contract, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Kilman only penned a fresh long-term deal – lasting until the summer of 2026 – a matter of months ago, but that has not stopped two Premier League rivals taking an interest in the Wolves defender.

Bruno Lage was appointed as Wolves’ head coach last summer and the alteration in the dugout has paid off for Kilman as he has not featured in just one match since.

A string of impressive performances have resulted in him becoming a favourite for the Portuguese and, according to talkSPORT, Chelsea are showing a keen interest in acquiring Kilman’s services.

The report suggests Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel has sent scouts to watch the 24-year-old boyhood Chelsea fan in action as Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta’s contracts are set to expire at the end of the campaign.

However, as it stands, the west Londoners will not be able to welcome Kilman to Stamford Bridge in the summer as owner Roman Abramovich has been sanctioned by the UK government and the Russian billionaire’s assets have been frozen.

That could result in Manchester United looking to pounce as the Red Devils are reportedly monitoring Kilman’s situation after making an impression on interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

But Lage has confirmed Wolves are in talks over fresh terms which would help them in their bid to keep Kilman at Molineux.
