Derry end 24-year wait for Ulster crown with extra-time win over Donegal
Derry are Ulster champions for the first time since 1998, following a dramatic 1-16 to 1-14 extra-time win over Donegal at Clones.
Niall Loughlin grabbed an 11th minute goal, and added a couple of points, and while Peadar Mogan hit three for Donegal, it was the Oak Leafers who led by 1-6 to 0-6 at the interval.
Odhran McFadden Ferry netted for Donegal, and Jason McGee had them two points clear late on, but two late Shane McGuigan frees tied it up at 1-12 each.
Late scores in extra-time from man of the match Brendan Rogers and Conor Glass swung it for the Oak Leafers as they brought almost a quarter of a century of provincial pain to a glorious end.
