Derby County transfer revelation emerges amid imminent exit

The initial deal set up regarding Derby County winger Kamil Jozwiak’s move to US outfit Charlotte was a loan-to-buy agreement before the latter opted to make it permanent instead, according to a report from MLSsoccer.com.

This agreement was first reported yesterday afternoon with the two parties settling on a fee believed to be at least £1m, in what is yet another on-field blow for the Manchester United legend who already has a threadbare squad without this departure.

But with the Rams in the clutches of administration and the club previously needing to prove they have the sufficient funds to make it through the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign, this decision has seemingly been taken with at least one eye on the future.

A deal between the Rams and Charlotte was nearly finalised and confirmed over a month ago – but an injury against Birmingham City in the latter stages of January and his subsequent spell on the sidelines initially scuppered this move.

With the MLS season only just getting underway though, the Poland international will have plenty of time to make his mark and potentially replace the creativity Riley McGree would have brought if the Middlesbrough midfielder had stayed put in the United States.

And it has now been revealed by MLS Soccer that the Rams transformed this transfer for Jozwiak from a temporary stay to a longer-term agreement, bringing in revenue straight away to be utilised in their fight against financial problems.
