An international call-up, lots of injuries and a debut goal - life after leaving Birmingham City

Birmingham City’s busy January transfer window saw six senior players leave the club and five arrive. Harlee Dean, Mitch Roberts and Ivan Sanchez all departed on loan, while Chuks Aneke, Riley McGree and Caolan Boyd-Munce moved on to pastures new - or in the former’s case, newish.

Dean and Aneke are in League One, Boyd-Munce and McGree - who was only on loan anyway - are now both at Middlesbrough. Meanwhile, Roberts is at League Two Carlisle and Sanchez back home in Spain.

It's safe to say it's hardly been a success-filled couple of months. Here’s how they have fared since leaving Blues...

The defender had an outstanding Owls debut against Ipswich, playing in the middle of a back three. However, as seems to be the case with any centre back who’s every come within a five mile radius of St Andrew’s - he got injured.

Dean suffered a calf strain in his second game against Morecambe and was out for several weeks. He returned to the squad last Saturday and played the final 11 minutes of the 0-0 draw with Gillingham. He has returned to find competition for places at it most intense.

Blues made a profit on the striker, signing him on a free from Charlton and then selling him back - plus Juan Castillo’s loan - for £300,000. He started off well before injury struck.

In his first month he wasn't managing 90 minutes every week, although he did provide a good impact in a team that was lacking Jayden Stockley. He got two goals in six appearances and a habit of making something happen. Until that stopped.

Aneke is sidelined with what has been described as a 'muscle' injury and hasn't played since scoring against Bolton on February 8.

He scored on his Middlesbrough debut - of course he did - an FA Cup victory over Mansfield Town. He
