Statement confirms Aston Villa stance after Everton make £10m decision

Cazoo will carry on sponsoring Aston Villa after their agreement with Everton was brought to an end.

Everton have broken off their deal with Cazoo to sponsor their shirts with the change coming at the end of the season.

Cazoo, an online car retailer with a physical dealership on Tyburn Road in Birmingham, became Villa 's shirt sponsor at the same time as Everton's in 2020.

Buying used cars online was a booming industry because of the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and it was confirmed at the time that Villa's deal with Cazoo would be a 'multi-year' one.

As things stand Villa are set to enter a third year with Cazoo as the club's sponsor when next season starts but Everton have exercised an option in their deal with the firm to bring the agreement to an end.

"We can confirm that the Cazoo sponsorship of Everton Football Club will not continue after the end of the current season," Cazoo told The Athletic in a statement.

"The original deal was for two years and it has been a strong partnership over this period which has delivered on our objectives and we are proud to have supported the Club and raised over £75,000 for Everton in the Community during this time.

"We were unable to agree suitable terms to extend our sponsorship of Everton beyond the original two years but can confirm that we will remain the principal partner and shirt sponsor of Aston Villa Football Club next season."

It is reported that Cazoo's agreement with Everton was worth approximately £10 million a year to Frank Lampard's side.

Villa were sponsored by the Chinese gambling firm W88 in their first season back in the Premier League but changed to Cazoo in 2020.
