Deontay Wilder: Slow-mo footage of Robert Helenius KO is brutal

Deontay Wilder was back in action after over a year away, reminding us all just how dangerous he can be in the ring, knocking Robert Helenius out inside just one round at the Barclays Centre in New York.

The Bronze Bomber now has a 43-0 record against fighters not called Tyson Fury, including 42 knockouts, boasting a record that is simply ridiculous, with Wilder leaving the Barclays Centre for a fifth time, winning on every occasion.

His trilogy with Fury has seen him fall down the pecking order for a WBC title shot, although after an eliminator win on Saturday night, he’s already turning his attentions to the big hitters in the heavyweight division once again.

For those waiting up or getting up early on Sunday morning in the UK, Wilder didn’t leave them waiting long for the drama, with just two minutes and 57 seconds of fighting before he had his opponent on the canvas, out cold.

During the fight, Wilder only landed three strikes, but that’s all he needed as his savage knockout power was back on the main stage, with him showing us why he is always an incredibly dangerous customer in the ring.

After the fight, Wilder mentioned the likes of Oleksandr Usyk and Andy Ruiz Jr in his post-fight interview, so he is clearly aiming high in the division after well and truly shaking off the ring rust, although they’ll likely offer a much tougher test than Helenius did.

It was a tentative start to the opening round, although that was quickly put to bed by Wilder with the brutal knockout of his opponent.

Helenius looked to be in a decent position, forcing Wilder into the corner, but he let his guard down and The Bronze Bomber delivered a brutal strike, sending Helenius down and clearly out for the count, he celebrated straight away,
