Defender Declan Gallagher handed Scotland cap call amid injury woes
Former Motherwell captain Declan Gallagher has been handed a Scotland call-up as Steve Clarke prepares his side for a crucial Nations League double-header against Republic of Ireland and Ukraine on Saturday and Tuesday.
The St Mirren stopper, from Blantyre, has been called up alongside ex-Hibs star Josh Doig, after Everton and Celtic stars Nathan Patterson and David Turnbull pulled out through injury.
Patterson was crocked in the first half of the 3-0 win over Ukraine on Wednesday, and he has returned to Merseyside for an assessment.
Scotland have confirmed the call-ups, and speaking after the thumping win over Ukraine, boss Steve Clarke said: "We'll go away and have a little chat about [calling players up].
"David Turnbull will pull out of the squad, he picked up an ankle knock at the weekend that we thought would clear up.
"It's not going to clear up in time for this, so he's better to go back to his club and get ready for their next game.
"Two players light, I'll probably need to call at least one, maybe two players."
