Deebo Samuel: 49ers WR deletes tweet after trade rumours emerge

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has hit out at claims that have come out regarding his future.

The 26-year-old is currently in something of a contract dispute with the 49ers after a stellar year that saw him rack up over 2,000 yards combined in terms of receiving and rushing, turning him into one of the most dangerous weapons in the league.

A tweet from ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington claimed that Samuel had seemingly spoken to the chiefs within the organisation and asked to be traded away.

Breaking News: I just spoke to wide receiver Deebo Samuel — and he told me that he has asked the 49ers to trade him. He did not want to discuss specific reasons behind his request, but he has indeed let the 49ers know his desire to leave the organization. More to come.

Given that Darlington claims to have spoken to Samuel directly, it appears as though you can’t get any more ‘straight from the horse’s mouth’ than what Darlington was able to get, but it appears as though Samuel has some issues with it.

In a tweet, which has since been deleted, Samuel seemed to hit out at reporters for trying to speculate on his future, stating that the only people who really knew the truth about the situation were him, the team and his agent Tory Dandy.

“Reporters jobs is to make stories only people know the truth about situation is 49ers @ToryDandy and deebo Samuel,” Samuel wrote.

Deebo Samuel deleted his tweet, possibly at the prompting of his agent, but he got his message across. Very little information on his contract situation is known outside of the immediate negotiating parties. Reports we see on tv or social media about motive(s) are speculation. pic.twitter.com/n0NSgTQOjx
