Declan Rice gives one-word verdicts on Manchester United pair Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire

Declan Rice has been giving his thoughts on the England squad and described Manchester United defender Harry Maguire as a 'beast'.

Maguire and his United teammate Rashford are both away on international duty currently, having been called up by Gareth Southgate for their two matches.. The centre-back got 90 minutes under his belt in a 1-1 draw against Ukraine on Saturday, while Rashford came off the bench.

Despite struggling for minutes and form at club level, Maguire continues to play consistently for England and has never let his country down. The 30-year-old has been a constant presence at the back during a spell in which Rice has risen to prominence in defensive midfield.

The Arsenal midfielder, who left West Ham in a £105million deal this summer, has often worked in tandem with Maguire at the heart of the England side. And when asked to describe his teammate in one word, he simply said 'beast'.

Rashford got 25 minutes off the bench against Ukraine and will hope to start at Hampden Park against Scotland on Tuesday evening. The United forward faces plenty of competition for his place on the right-wing but few with the key quality that Rice identified.

Asked to describe Rashford in one word, the midfielder said: "Pace".

Maguire and Rashford will both remain on England duty for their final game in Scotland tomorrow, before returning to Manchester to prepare for Saturday's Premier League meeting with Brighton. The former's 90 minutes against Ukraine last week is already comfortably more than he's managed at club level so far this season, and probably more than he will manage for a while.

But Southgate was quick to praise the experienced defender
