De Kock fifty in vain as Joburg Super Kings beat Durban's Super Giants at Kingsmead
Quinton de Kock's fighting half-century went in vain as Joburg Super Kings defeated Durban's Super Giants by 28 runs in their SA20 encounter at Kingsmead on Tuesday.
It was a superb bowling performance from Joburg Super Kings as Durban's Super Giants fell short of the 170-run target.
The hosts lost their openers early as Matthew Breetzke was dismissed for seven off David Wiese, while West Indian Brandon King hit a 14-ball 17 but was bowled by 45-year-old Imran Tahir (1/29)
Donovan Ferreira then struck twice in his opening over as he removed Wiaan Mulder (9) and Jason Smith (0).
With De Kock and Heinrich Klaasen in, Durban seemed poised to overhaul the target, but Sri Lankan Matheesha Pathirana got the breakthrough as Klaasen got a thin edge behind to Jonny Bairstow for a 17-ball 29.
De Kock played an anchoring role but struggled to find a partner as Tabraiz Shamsi picked up two wickets in three balls to send the hosts reeling at 122-8.
De Kock brought up his fifth SA20 fifty and was key to Durban's run chase but pressure grew as speedster Gerald Coetzee deceived the left-hander with a slower ball and was he caught for 55 off 45 balls (hitting five fours and two sixes).
Coetzee, who returned for the first time since November, wrapped up the tail to end on two for 32 as Durban's Super Giants were bundled out for 141 in 18 overs.

Earlier, after deciding to bat first, the Super Kings posted a competitive 169/7 despite spinner Prenelan Subrayen dismissing captain Faf du Plessis for one in the opening over.
Opener Devon Conway and Leus du Plooy built well through the middle overs with a 57-run stand before captain
