David Raya's agent confirms Manchester United transfer interest in Arsenal goalkeeper

The agent of David Raya has claimed that Manchester United were interested in his player over the summer but never progressed past an initial enquiry.

Raya was in high demand over the summer window after informing Brentford of his desire to leave. Thomas Frank's side were receptive to a sale and the manager often spoke openly about their £40million-plus valuation.

Finding a new goalkeeper was a key priority for Erik ten Hag after last season, following the departure of David de Gea upon the expiration of his contract. Multiple reports linked United with a move for Raya and now his agent, Jaume Munell, has confirmed interest from Old Trafford.

"This summer, he had just one year left on his contract with Brentford and Arsenal was the club that showed the most concrete interest and have always been our priority," Munell told AFTV. "Tottenham also was interested and made an official bid but it was refused because was lower than the €40m [£34.9m] that Brentford wanted to sell him, also Bayern Munich was interested and had an amazing offer but with no buy option included and for this reason, we’ve not accepted it.

"Bayern Munich didn’t understand our refusal because they thought that Raya would have been the backup keeper at Arsenal but as you can see it’s not like this. Also Manchester United and Chelsea made an inquiry but nothing concrete."
