David Gough appointed ref for Dublin-Kerry All-Ireland final

Meath official David Gough has been appointed as the referee for the All-Ireland football final on Sunday, 30 July, the second time he will handle a decider featuring Dublin and Kerry.

The high-profile referee was the man in charge for the drawn 2019 final between the sides, in which he sent off Dublin defender Jonny Cooper after 15 minutes.

Jim Gavin's five-in-a-row chasing side survived, however, with Dean Rock levelling the game in injury time and they would go on to win by six points in the replay.

Gough has presided over five games in the 2023 championship, most recently the All-Ireland quarter-final between Dublin and Mayo. He was also handed the whistle for the Roscommon-Galway Connacht semi-final, the Ulster decider between Armagh and Derry, and two All-Ireland group stage games – Galway-Tyrone in Salthill and Cork-Kerry at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The Slane clubman previously reffed the 2015 All-Ireland minor final and the 2018 All-Ireland club final, as well as the Munster final in 2016, the Connacht final in 2017 and the Ulster final in 2018, 2021 and 2023.

His linemen on the day will be Monaghan's Martin McNally and Galway’s James Molloy, with the former installed as standby referee. Longford's Fergal Kelly will be the sideline official.
