David de Gea poised to leave Manchester United as Wesley Sneijder reveals why he never joined Reds

De Gea increasingly likely to leave United

David de Gea is increasingly likely to leave Manchester United this summer as talks continue over his future.

The 32-year-old is technically out of contract in two weeks. However, he was not named as one of the seven players set to be released by the club when their contracts expire.

It was initially believed that the terms of a new agreement were roughly in place. But an extension has yet to be signed as United explore their options.

Sneijder reveals who stopped his United move

Former Netherlands midfielder Wesley Sneijder has revealed his agent was behind a failed move to United after asking the club for more money.

The midfielder hit his peak at Inter Milan, helping them to a historic treble in 2010 and guiding the Netherlands to a World Cup final that summer.

Former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson himself claimed in 2021 that United were "never interested" in Sneijder, although the retired midfielder has now suggested otherwise.
